Exercising with ADHD: How I've Done Yoga Every Day for Two Years
By MzFit
- 2 minutes read - 260 wordsI’m a 46 year old software programmer with ADHD. During covid containment my girlfriend and I started doing YouTube yoga videos. That went so well I decided to build this app you’re reading about: no ads, fast easy search, Apple Watch Integration.
My whole life, my experience with ADHD has been that for 3-6 months I get hyper-focused on things that interest me and then once the novelty wears off, I never touch it again (hello my obsession with baking fresh bread circa 2010).
In 2023 I realized that part of managing my ADHD was to figure out how to keep up with activities I enjoy, activities that are good for me beyond the initial hyper-fixation. I realized that I could do anything for 5 minutes a day, but beyong that, my willpower tailed off. So, I do a minimum of 5 minutes yoga a day. (I also work on this app a minimum of 5 minutes a day).
And here I am, 2025. I’ve been doing at least 5 minutes of yoga every day for 2 years. That’s 730 days of yoga, 730 yoga sessions. Once a week my girlfriend and I do yoga at the local parks and rec department. Our yoga instructor calls us semi-pros. All from 5-10 minutes a day, every day.
I hope 2025 is a good year for you, and I hope you find ways that work for you to exercise. I’ve done my best to build an app that helps me work out every day, and I hope it works for you too.
